Blade
Materials
Blade materials used are ATS-34, 154CPM and Stainless Steel
Damascus. They have been selected for the ability to hold a sharp
cutting edge. Some of these steels require double tempered after
heat-treatment to reach the full optimal performance of the steel. I
send my knife blades to Paul Bos for heat-treatment.
Handle
Materials
I prefer handle materials that require very little
maintenance. A wide variety of high-tech, durable handle
materials are utilized including Fossil Woolly Mammoth Ivory,
Premium Mother of Pearl, Black Lip Pearl, Burl Ironwood and
Giraffe Bone. Fossil Mammoth Ivory is found in Siberia and
Alaska during the spring and summer. It is 10,000 to 50,000
years old or older. There is no ban on this Ivory, since the
Mammoths have been extinct for thousands of years.
Warranty
My knives are guaranteed during my working lifetime. Natural
handle materials cannot be guaranteed from shrinking or cracking
(ivory, bone, etc.). Disassembling, abusing or tampering with
the knife will void the warranty. I reserve the right to decide
what constitutes abuse. Liner locks may require an adjustment to
maintain the proper working condition. If you wish, you may
return the knife to me and I will make these adjustments, at no
charge to you (except for postage).
If you have any questions about my knives, or if
you would like to commission a knife just for you,
please contact me.
